CZ132 Brass Rod dezincification resistant brass (DZR Brass) is essentially a leaded arsenical brass with a duplex structure. As its name suggests it was originally developed to provide good resistance to dezincification type corrosion which is experienced by normal hot working brasses. As well as the improved dezincification/corrosion resistance the CZ132 also offers good strength levels is readily machined and easily hot forged. Its primary usage over the years has been for water fittings that are produced by hot stamping and machining.

CZ101 Brass Rod is an alpha brass consisting of approximately 90% copper and 10% zinc. Also known as Gilding Metal the CW501L / CZ101 is primarily offered as a sheet grade due to its excellent cold working properties. The make-up of CZ101 means it is not generally susceptible to dezincification or stress corrosion and due to its formability and its attractive rich golden colour it is widely used for architectural and decorative applications. It is also readily enamelled, soldered and brazed.

CZ108 Brass Rod is a 37% zinc containing brass commonly referred to as basis brass. Predominantly an alpha brass it is one of the most popular sheets and plate grades due to its hot and cold working capabilities. CZ108 is often used for general purpose applications and forming operations when very good bending properties are required. It also offers a very good general corrosion resistance in many natural atmospheres, reasonable machinability, and good cold heading properties.

CZ120 Brass Rod is a duplex phase brass, containing a 2% lead addition finely dispersed throughout the microstructure to offer free cutting properties. Primarily a sheet grade it is often referred to as engraving brass due to its excellent machining qualities. Traditionally used for machine engraved nameplates and signs it also offers a good combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and hot formability. This combination of attributes makes it very desirable for many applications including architectural metalwork and decorative items. If rod material is required in addition to the sheet grade CZ122 is the equivalent grade. This is also available in a comprehensive range of sizes in round and hexagon from Holme Dodsworth stocks.

CZ121 Brass Rod is the standard European grade of free-machining brass consisting of a duplex structure and a 3% lead addition. The particles of lead are finely dispersed throughout the microstructure and act as both a lubricant and a chip breaker to give the alloy its free machining characteristics. The machinability rating of 100% for CZ121 is the standard against which all other copper alloys are rated. It is the most widely used of all the brasses due to its suitability for high-speed machining operations and also the manufacture of intricate parts. Its combination of machinability, thread rolling and knurling characteristics, combined with its good strength, ease of soldering/brazing and high resistance to corrosion makes it the ideal choice for many brass components throughout the industry.
